NCMS executive update – Summer 2017

There are many items to be happy about at mid-year 2017. We are making great progress in many areas and have heard from more members at this point this year than last year, through attendance at events, comments on Facebook, personal emails, and through an extremely successful one-on-one outreach and contact update mailed piece.

I would like to report that we are doing great with our physician wellness activities, which came as one of the priority goals of the NCMS Board of Directors for 2017 after results gathered at the annual meeting indicated a desire for this. After looking into attendance numbers, with input from the other Colorado component societies, I have learned that NCMS is running par to the course with the other comparably sized components, with around 100 or so attendees at the annual meeting. Upon my hire, the goal was to reach and engage more members throughout the year and this year NCMS has added to that effort by adding fun, no-agenda social gatherings, throughout the year to contribute to the wellness of our members. The April Meet and Greet event was lovely and drew around 50 members and their families. We also held a successful summer social at the Budweiser Biergarten in Fort Collins with members and their families and guests. We are collaborating with the Systems of Care nonprofit initiative on advanced care practices in September by promoting and attending the ACP fundraiser at the Gillespie-Wagner Ranch in Greeley for our annual educational event in September, and we look forward to an informative Legislative evening in October. Also, we look forward to hosting a wonderful annual meeting come December or January, incorporating more fun with music and entertainment.

Lastly, as many of you know, we diligently worked to complete the 2017 physician directory update and are well into the process of delivery. This publication is a pivotal piece of the Northern Colorado Medical Society membership as we have distributed close to 5,000 copies, with 1,200 or so being hand-delivered to medical and community establishments throughout northern Colorado. Please contact us if you need to get your information updated for next year. We have made numerous attempts to reach members for updated information and/or pictures via phone, email and social media and we are sorry if we did not hear from you in time. I hope to see you at one of our remaining events this year and thank you for being a part of the Northern Colorado Medical Society.
