Spring 2026 Voice - NCMS President's Letter

Dear Colleagues,
It is a profound honor to stand before you today as the new President of the Northern Colorado Medical Society. Having watched this organization grow through the tireless efforts of my predecessors and colleagues, I am deeply humbled by the trust you have placed in me. Our profession continues to face complex shifts – from legislative hurdles to the rapid integration of new technologies like AI – but the strength of NCMS has always resided in our collective expertise and our shared commitment to the bond between physician and patient.
I am encouraged by the American Medical Association National Advocacy Conference that I attended last week. I had the opportunity to meet with legislators and aides to advocate for the issues that are most important to physicians and our patients. We received warm receptions and had substantive discussions on Medicare payments, the support of Medicaid, and a Prior Authorization Bill that is currently in Congress. We will continue our efforts on behalf of the physicians NCMS represents.
As a physician and President of NCMS, I am dedicated to ensuring access to healthcare for all Coloradoans. Although technology is a great enabler for many of us to obtain medical care and our medical records, it also creates barriers for some (especially the elderly, indigent, or those who are not technologically sophisticated). If an individual is not able to traverse the medical technology infrastructure, it becomes difficult to obtain the healthcare that may be needed. My goal over the next year is to decrease the barriers that technology sometimes creates for specific marginalized populations.
As we move forward, I invite each of you to be involved-whether by joining a committee, contributing to our legislative efforts, or simply attending our upcoming NCMS Board of Directors Meeting on March 11, 2026, at the Timnath City Center. Our impact in the state legislature and our local community is directly tied to the size and activity of our membership. Together, we will ensure that Northern Colorado remains a model of excellence for high-quality, physician-led healthcare.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me directly or contact Crystal Goodman.
Warm regards
Scott Dhupar, MD
President North Colorado Medical Society
