President’s letter: Exciting news coming from the 2019 Thriving NOCO Summit

A very important event is coming up on Wednesday, Nov. 6 — the 2019 Thriving NOCO Summit: Stimulating Health Care Transformation in Northern Colorado — that I will be attending with other NCMS leaders. I want to give you advance notice that we’ll have interesting data to share with you after the summit.

Overall the event will focus on access to care. A breakout session will explore a CIVHC data request on emergency department utilization in northern Colorado. The data inquiry was spearheaded by the North Colorado Health Alliance and supported by NCMS, and the resulting report is divided by county (Boulder, Larimer and Weld), cities where the major northern Colorado hospitals are located (Loveland, Fort Collins and Greeley), and includes a component that reflected a RAE (regional accountable entity for Medicaid) for Larimer and the Western Slope. We hope that it will guide efforts to reduce unnecessary ED utilization and reduce health care costs in northern Colorado.

The Thriving NOCO Summit event is hosted by the North Colorado Health Alliance and will be held at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. Find more information here and watch for a report in our next e-newsletter.

Sincerely,

Lesley Brooks, MD
